JUSTGREAT'S BLOG..JUMP ON IN
I don't see this happening for the following reason. Tony may bring a lot of tools to the table but Patience sure isn't one of them and this will come back to bite him.. Tony faces a season with a new and developing team which like any developmental program will have it's struggles which isn't something he's comfortable with but beyond that he'll now have to deal with the new addition of Kyle Busch who temperamentally is much like Tony himself which is a bomb just waiting to go off and then there's Denny who showed signs last year that he doesn't feel like he has to bow down to Tony anymore as he displayed. if this program doesn't get off to a good start out of the gate or should Kyle and Denny be more successful early than Tony I think you can expect a major explostion over at JGR about a third of the way through the season.. personally I think this will be entertaining and good for the sport..

CAN TONY HOLD IT TOGETHER?JustGreat I am going to agree with you as far as no championship from him this year. I will say he will win a race or two. As far as having some sort of breakdown, I dont see that happening. Maybe I am wrong. But with Papa Gibbs coming home to the roust, he will be able to keep the pre madonnas attitudes of Denny and Kyle in check. That will be the only thing I believe will cause any drama over there. And also you could say that he may jump ship at the end of the year since unless I have missed something they still have not had a contract extension, with it ending in '09. So we will have to wait and see how it plays out. But for now he is the big fish over a Gibbs with 2 titles. |

CAN TONY HOLD IT TOGETHER?OSMSWHODAT, I too agree with most of what you say, as far as Gibbs being able to keep things under control that remains to be seen. I know last year Denny was upset with Joe Gibbs after him and Tony had there little difference of opinion. Denny believed Joe should have seen his side and backed him up verses Tony but he really didn't do that and instead didn't take a side, the problem was defused but I'm not sure how much of that could be contributed to Joe's intervention.. with Kyle now in the picture alliances maybe formed kind of like they are at RCR where Edwards doesn't get along with Matt and Greg and feels like it's those two verses him.. if Denny and Kyle form this kind of bond and Tony is the odd man out this could result in major problems.. |

CAN TONY HOLD IT TOGETHER?I forgot to comment on Tony's contract... you are correct he has as of now not yet signed a new contract.. I'm certain that he is in a wait and see how well this all works out mode and will then make his decision later based on that.. sure can't blame him there.. |

CAN TONY HOLD IT TOGETHER?YANKSKILLAZZ, Not hard to see your a devoted fan..LOL. those are some lofty expectations you have there.. maybe you should at least wait until Toyota wins a single race before you have them racking up a fistfull of wins by a single driver ( even if it is Tony ) and throwing in a Championship on top of that to boot.. get a win , have someone even make the Chase then consider the rest as a possibility would sound much more realistic for now. but one cannot question your devotion for sure, Tony would be proud to know your on board. |

CAN TONY HOLD IT TOGETHER?As far as that goes if they do form some sort of alliance oh well. Tony is still top dog over there. As far as leaving I would be okay with that if say he did go to RCR. Sorry Great but I think my Tony Love would be over if say he went to HMS. |

JUSTGREAT'S BLOG..JUMP ON INI tend to agree with most of what is said here. Tony is a time bomb waiting to go off and we all know he has the patience of a 2 year old. But with the past episodes that Tony has had and with Gibbs in charge, I think Tony has no real choice but to remain in control. I think if he becomes a distrction or even pulls some minor stunt to draw the attention of NASCAR again, I think Joe will not hesitate to sit his fanny down for a race or two to show him it's about the team and not about Tony. Joe will do everything he can to make sure that JGR is represented in a professional manner and not be put in a position that he has to defend himself or the team in front of NASCAR. It should be an interesting year for sure though. Just my humble opinion.... |

) First, I think the ground work for Toyota was laid last year between BDR, MWR and Red Bull. All three teams had struggles but then again all three posted top 10's too. The basic problem with the cars were engines. Not engine failure, or horsepower, but where the powerband of the engines needed to be. I think JGR has addressed that issue by looking at the Daytona Speed Charts where Toyota has dominated the top 10 in speed. Second, JGR doesn't have to worry as the other teams have getting into races, So they can concentrate on race setups. This is a real advantage especially in the races that have the impound rules. Toyota would qualify in these races then wouldn't race well because they had qualifying setups in them. Third, the coach, Joe Gibbs knows how to mold high strung players so they play well with each other. Team concept is an important factor and believe it or not Tony wants and needs that type of structure. I think they got away from that structure last year and it cost both Tony and Denny in the chase. I also think the addition of Kyle will help both Tony and Denny. Kyle is a competitor and it showed last year when he could have tanked it the remaining of the year with HMS instead he raced his but off trying to beat his teammates. Even when his teammates abandonded him at 'Dega he still had a strong finish. So I think Tony will not have the problems with Kyle as a teammate as he had as a competitor from another team. But only time will tell.
